    What a good ( excellent ) movie,,,,True story,, German Subtitles,, but one of the best movies I have ever watched,,, rarely do I review but did in hope others would watch this,,easy to follow along even with subtitles,,,amazing story

    NorthFace

    This is a film about an early assent of the Eiger in the 1930's. Awesome photography and visual effects make this film a true Masterpiece. It is a German film with subtitles. I was riveted by the action and I think maybe the subtitles enhanced the drama rather than detracted from it. To really get a feel for what people could do with primitive (compared to today ) climbing equipment is is just amazing! I was very impressed with the quality of this film and the acting. The DVD was $10 to $15 less expensive than anyplace I could find. I recommend it highly!

    Great movie at a great price, which I strongly recommend.

    I bought this as a gift, having seen the movie when it came into theatres. The film is based on a true story about the race to climb the dreaded North Face slope and the international rivalry to be the first to do it, with Hitler pressing the best climbers to do this despite the danger involved. I wanted a film in the German language, which this is. It's not 'light' entertainment, but I would definitely recommend it.
