    Best OZ ever!

    I've been a fan of the Wizard of Oz book series for years and adored the 1939 movie. WICKED the play was also excellent, but THIS VERSION is the BEST ever! The story line fits in with both the books and the original movie. They did an excellent job matching the set designs to 1939 and yet taking it farther, including parts of OZ that only those who have read the books are aware of. I wore out my first copy of this DVD and had to buy another.

    This is a great DVD. The movie is simply terrific. Children and Adults who are young at heart will thoroughly enjoy this reimagining of the classic 'Wizard of Oz'. The cast is superlative, the storyline is top notch and will easily enthrall the most imaginative of viewers. 5 Stars! Highly recommended!!

    Do you like the classic Judy Garland WIZARD OF OZ? This film shows how Oz, a smalltime circus magician & con man, became the Wizard. It doesn't contradict anything in the classic film; in fact, it complements it nicely, even starting out black and white and changing to color in the land of Oz. Yes, there are some scary parts, but there were scary parts in the Judy Garland film, too. Since Oz is an adult, and not always a scrupulous one, this film has more complex characters and can be enjoyed by adults --- but there's nothing inappropriate for kids. For example, Oz has a girl in every port, a weakness that has devastating consequences for the land of Oz; but there is no crude language and no bedroom scenes.
