    Nice, really handy lens

I'm with others on this: This won't be your BEST lens, but it may be your most used. It's almost as sharp as the 12-50mm Oly/Zuiko 4/3 lens but far, far more packable and compact. It's always with on the camera or in a pocket, because it's so versatile and does a very good job and probably 70% of the photo ops presented. I usually carry it, my super-pancaked $80 9mm wide-angle, and my best lens, the Panasonic 20mm f1.8 pancake. I've the 45mm f2.8 Oly/Zuiko portrait lens on the way; with those I have a very versatile kit that fits easily in a small bag. Meanwhile, if I just want my camera along In Case, I've got this sweet little compact thing. No regrets at all on this one.

  • Top critical review

It extends too far when zoomed out to longest focal length

    If it remained truly compact.

  • Good things come in small packages

Got this lens to replace the kit lens that usually comes with the camera, we will be traveling this Summer and smaller is better, this lens is more compact than the "kit" lens it will be easier to carry while abroad. Features make it ice as well, with the power zoom and all!

  • Soft on edges at wide angle, but better in tele

I bought this lens for use on my DJI Inspire 2 drone. It works well mechanically and in the software of the drone. At wide angle the edges - and inside the edges - are quite soft. At telephoto the sharpness seems better. Not an expensive lens, so overall if you don't need sharpness on the wide angle setting it's fine.

  • Not my best lens, but might be one of my most used and here’s why:

I use this with my em-1 when I’m out and about, e.g. family gatherings, going to the park, walking the dog... I own a number of lenses and I own the pro version of this lens, but when I just want the basics this is good enough. Optics are good, construction is good, motor is silent and there isn’t really anything not to like. I’m thinking of getting the e-m10 or a pen and putting this lens on it. That would be a great tandem. If I paid a lot of money for this lens I would hold it to a different standard, but I didn’t and for about the price I paid for my ND filter for my Voigtlander this lens is the bomb.
