    HP Scanjet 8300 - Terrific product

    I am a senior and although I am comfortable around computers I certainly am not an expert or even close. Anyhow, I found this scanner very easy to set up, and also easy to use. I plan to use the scanner to archive old documents, photos, slides, etc to preserve family info for my children and grandchildren. For example, I have my mother and father's wedding certificate (1931), their old passports, many old pictures, etc. With this scanner, I can save all this stuff and make up CDs for family members. There is no "how to use" info that came with the scanner, but the very first day I went to online help (close to midnight) and had some links sent to me that were just what I needed. I have always found HP products to be very reliable, and this was no exception.

    Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8300

    Well the one I got was a used item. When I received it the item was not well pack I felt sure that it would be broken. To my surprise it worked. So it's durable scanner or very lucky one. Main reason got this scanner I wanted to do high resolution scans of old pictures. It seems to do this quit well, but is little on the slow side which is to be expected for amount of megabytes it has to put out. You got make sure your computer can handle the large file sizes if your going to do any editing of the photo, you should have at lease 4Gb would be my guess. So I'm in the process of upgrading to a better computer, so I can't tell you much more than this

    Combining the HP Scanjet 8300 with Vuescan Pro gives you the ultimate scanning tool.

    It's such an incredibly good scanner. It's very fast and has a depth that allows you to copy pages from books without crushing them.

    Quality you can use professionally

    This scanner is not only quick, but high quality. Many built in features make it the best scanner I have ever had. I do a lot of reproduction and restoration work, and nothing compares with it.

    This scanner has become part of HP's legacy.

    If you need a scanner for legal size documents or converting slides or negatives to digital images this scanner fits the bill perfectly. It's substantial but it's one of the most capable flatbed scanners available and the resolution is just amazing.
