About this product

Product Information

Kevin Costner and David Marshall Grant star as two estranged brothers driven apart by the untimely death of their father. Marcus (Costner), the older brother, is a renegade bicycle racer and doctor who returns to his family home and discovers that David (Grant) may suffer from cerebral aneurysms, the same ailment that killed their father. In an effort to discover the truth about David and mend their failing relationship, Marcus brings his brother home with him to Wisconsin, where he works at a state-of-the-art sports medicine facility. The two brothers, although quite different, share the love of bicycle racing, and decide to go to Colorado to participate in "Hell of the West," the most difficult bike race in the country. As they undergo the grueling journey, they mend old wounds and realize the importance of family, before it is too late. Director John Badham's film features spectacular racing footage, including fast-paced rides along spine-tingling drops in the Colorado wilderness.

Buy it as a cheap “surprise” gift for a friend

If your a cyclist it is a must have. It attempts to capture the reason men/women love the sport. The competition, the friendships, attention to detail, and the open road. For non cyclist there is a compelling story line outside of sports and the movie is written in a way that it sort of keeps you guessing. Seeing a young Kevin Costner is nostalgic and overall the movie should keep your attention. It would make a great gift for any bicyclist In your family and maybe for a non cyclist as well.

  • Great Movie featuring cycling!

A good movie about bicycle racing in the U.S. in the mid-80's. I lived in Grand Junction, CO where the "Tour of the Moon" stage was filmed. I 10 yrs before the movie was filmed I lived in central Kansas and had been many of the places on the road trip to the race. For me it is a fun movie, full of great memories.

  • Load Of Rubbish.

It was a load of rubbish. It wouldn't play in my DVD player, don't ask me why but it wouldn't, so as it was only a fiver or so, it didn't go thru' all the heartache of sending it back, it just threw it in the bin. Now there's one less rubbish DVD of American Flyers in the world from whoever I ordered from.

  • Good Movie!

I love this movie, because it brings back memories of the era when I saw it the first time, like all good movies and music do. It was originally released to movie theaters in 1985. The action sequences are quite good, though like most sports movies, there are a few eye-rolling moments for elite athletes that actually engage in the sport. The acting is quite good, with a very likeable cast. And Kevin Costner was young and adorable - what more can you ask? : )))

  • The Finest 80's Cheese this side of France

This flick is the end all of 1980's cheeseball PLUS bicycles. Only the Cos' could rock out in the lead pack of the 'Hell of the West' on a diet consisting of strictly McDonalds and Ray Dawn Chong. I highly recommend this film to anyone interested in anything.
