    Well restored thriller with good acting

    This is a classic thriller whodonit rather than being overloaded with action. It nicely conjures up heart stopping threats lurking around the corner but they don't necessarily materialize. It has the sevices of excellent actors including Dorothy McGuire, George Brent, Elsa Lancester and Ethyl Barrymore. The restoration is very good. It is such a well done classic that it is doubtful that the remake can be better. A dark movie like this benefits by the black and white palette and stark camera angles..
