Born in the thirties China of Japanese descent, the author spent an unusual childhood in Peking and Shanghai before being repatriated to Japan in the aftermath of the Japanese surrender. Arriving in New York in the fifties, he was taken under the wing of Richard Avedon and the legendary art director, Alexey Brodovitch.

Unfortunately the packaging didn't survive Royal Mails handling and this was the only book I received of five I had ordered. I contacted WeBuyBooks and they have been brilliant in trying to resolve the issue of the missing books. They are replacing one that they still have in stock though unfortunately are unable to do so for the other three so are issuing a refund for these.
