About this product

Product Information

Master filmmaker Errol Morris turns his keen eye to the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in this intense and provocative documentary. Using interviews with the soldiers that appeared in the now infamous torture photos, Morris strings their stories together with vivid reenactments and striking digital technology for a wrenching look at the events at the prison. With his trademark straight-into-the-lens interview style, it is chilling to see the familiar faces of Lynndie England and Sabrina Harmon as they try to articulate their experiences. The lawlessness and confusion in the prison quickly become evident, and as their stories unfold, the film slowly strips away the many puzzling questions that surround the incidents, exposing a much larger truth about corruption within the US military, corruption that appears to reach far beyond the handful of soldiers that took the fall for the scandal.Morris's reenactments are extremely vivid, and often shot in a beautifully cinematic style. While these techniques make for riveting filmmaking, they are sometimes considered controversial by documentary purists, and some might criticize his detailed recreations of such deeply disturbing events. However, others might deem the reenactments necessary to really bringing home the reality of what happened. Regardless of his methods, Morris does a masterly job of untangling such a complex, twisted story. He shines a glaring light on one of America's most shameful moments and, more importantly, exposes how little we truly know about our military's methods.

Superbly fast shipping! Well secured, but unfortunately the PO tried VERY hard and managed to damage the package. Seller immediately stepped up and offered partial refund or full refund on return. Extremely high integrity! I would not hesitate to order from again.

  • Errol wasn't erroneous

It featured those stuck in the political fall out of a messy situation that the American public remains reluctant to accept as one of their own. You get to see how those pretty faces weathered public scrutiny and only a black man still stood tall, gawd bless'm. His message sings about how the real crime hinged not on gawdy judicial proceedings, a dog and pony show that corporate media "contained" for US, but rather on the afterthought that G-men had in fact killed a guy in cold blood quite literally off camera--tethered to an out of focus SOP. It's like visiting a war zone platonically, I speculate. Gee whiz, I bought it by accident as my low ball bid somehow escaped the prowling eyne of my fellow trollers. Peace out, brethren and sistern too.

  • Standard Operating Procedure (Blu-ray Disc, 2008)

Standard Operating Procedure (Blu-ray Disc, 2008) is a frank look at how our system works in the military system... lower ranking troops are ordered and encouraged to use certain techniques to obtain answers sought by the higher up military brass... but when the tactics are brought under public outrage, the lower ranking troops are left as scapegoats... another example of corruption in the military that leads to proof of corruption in our political leaders. business as usual in AMERICA: Home of the CORRUPT & GREEDY... this is a must see !!! 5 STARS & 2 THUMBS UP !!!
