About this product

Product Information

This how-to jewelry-making book features the work of an array of invited jewelry designers influenced by the growing Steampunk trend. In Steampunk circles, jewelry-makers are often master metalsmiths who combine found objects with fine metals to create elaborate pieces. In Steampunk-Style Jewelry, the projects focus on no fire techniques--like simple stringing, wirework, hammering, stamping, gluing, stitching, and off-loom beadwork--so that even a beginner can create pieces in the style. Each project provides a complete materials and tools list, step-by-step instructions, and clear illustrations. This book offers a broad overview of a growing design trend that is part of the literary, industrial design, fashion, and popular culture scene. Readers will learn about the art movement through the many photographic sidebars that explore the many aspects of the trend.

  • A good start for the casual jeweler

Providing an overview of the style this book is an excellent way to start making Steampunk jewelry. Be prepared to make lots of beadwork because that is what this mainly focuses on making. If you know more of the style then beginner level I would reccommend a quick page through to get a few ideas and then carry onward. If you have never made jewelry before or want to get some ideas on where to look up more information on the subject then I highly reccommend this book. The references that were not of the creator's design or make were inspiring while her own designs were simplistic and inexpensive. It is the fist of it's kind in what is to be a long line of books on the subject. An excellent starting point for the genre.

  • New Ways To Do Projects

Good book for this style. It tells of the background-history of Steampunk. I intend to try the projects they had listed. However, I wish there were more ideas(projects). I get inspired creatively with ideas of my own just looking at a picture of something. But having an instruction for ways to do new things with a complete list of tools and detailed items for projects is what this book provides.

  • pretty good

This book gives you an exactingly complete supplies list with every project. I loved the pages telling you about the history of steampunk. I already knew most of what they were telling me but it would be great for a newbie to the style. The directions were pretty clear but I wish they would have given more examples of variations...overall pretty good though!

  • I love this book!

If you're interested in this style of jewelry this is a great book to buy! Lots of information on the origin of the jewelry and the tools required to make it yourself.

  • Smooth transaction, speedy receipt, excellent condition

The purchase of this book gave me an excellent insight, history, and information regarding the subject matter of Steampunk Jewelry.
