    It can save you and your children from a lot of pain.

    It's educational. Yes, you can still administer corporal punishment to your young children who are misbehaving without threat of going to jail for child abuse. There's a lot of misconceptions out there, thanks to a misinformed society. There are many good and effective ideas, besides corporal punishment, All brand new and existing parents should read this book.

    Wealth of wisdom

    I absolutely loved this book. If you are looking for godly wisdom and advice, well, Dr. Dobson gives just that. He offers real life examples and real life solutions to those trying situations. What he does not offer is a bunch of scientific mumbo jumbo that proves to be untrue in just a few short years. This book has stood the test of time. Dr. Dobson reminds the parent the he/she is the parent and the child is the child. That child needs guidance and discipline until such time that they can guide and discipline themselves as young adults. He offers diplomatic, non-abusive hands on tactics for discipline that really work. He reminds parents to be sure and discern what is outright disobedience and just childish behavior, because after all kids will be kids...the type of discipline ...

    Great practical advise for raising good kids!

    My greatest fear is to turn around in a few years only to find that I've raised a spoiled brat with no respect for me or others. James Dobson's book, "Dare to Discipline" gives some great "old school" common sense advise with a Biblical foundation that has been lost in recent years as parents want to be friends with their kids first, afraid to deny them anything even if it's not good for them. Discipling a child doesn't mean you don't love them. It means you DO love them and are willing to be the parent and leader in the home, which is what so many kids are missing today. If you want to be a better parent, this is a great resource to add to your library!

    recommend to EVERYONE!!!

    this book was amazing. Dr. Dobson has always been a trusted opinion in my parents house and now, 27 years later, in my house! He is gifted in the area of child psychology and most importantly, the Bible. He speaks from personal experience, from the Biblical stand point, and from anonymous stories of personal contacts. i can NOT say anything bad about it except that it definitely shows me areas i need to work on:-) but one thing i did wish he discussed was disciplining your older child when you just bring a new child into your home. im sure he has another book on that and i'll buy that one too!

    Timeless effective insights.

    I had this book when I was raising my kids and Dr. Dobson’s insights were invaluable! Now I’m purchasing this copy to give to my son who’s raising three kids, because I know that these child rearing techniques are timeless and true.
