About this product

Product Information

The Wallflowers Four young ladies at the side of the ballroom make a pact to help each other find husbands . . . no matter what it takes Proud and beautiful Annabelle Peyton could have her pick of suitors if only she had a dowry. Her family is on the brink of disaster, and the only way Annabelle can save them is to marry a wealthy man. Unfortunately her most persistent admirer is the brash Simon Hunt, a handsome and ambitious entrepreneur who wants her as his mistress. Annabelle is determined to resist Simon's wicked propositions, but she can't deny her attraction to the boldly seductive rogue, any more than he can resist the challenge she presents. As they try to outmaneuver each other, they find themselves surrendering to a love more powerful than they could have ever imagined. But fate may have other plans and it will take all of Annabelle's courage to face a peril that could destroy everything she holds dear. "

Reviews
"The rare author who can make you laugh and cry-- on the same page." -- Julia Quinn "By turns amusing, sensual and sober, but always compelling, this is a first-rate offering from a truly talented storyteller." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Secrets of a Summer Night "With her hallmark intense sensuality and skill for crafting a finely tuned, highly romantic tale, Kleypas pulls out all the stops as Annabelle and Simon embark upon a passionate journey of the heart. What a sheer joy to read, and you'll emit a deep sigh as you turn the last page." -- RT Book Reviews (top pick) on Secrets of a Summer Night "Kleypas is a romance gem, a queen among a vast royal court of historical romance authors, and Chasing Cassandra is a welcome star in her brightly twinkling constellation of interstellar romantic achievements." -- Entertainment Weekly "Spectacular... BACK OF BOOK SAYS: ANNABELLE PEYTON DETERMINED TO SAVE HRE FAMILY from diaster, decides to use her bgeauty and wit to tempt a a suitable nobleman into making an offer of marriage. but annabelle's most intriguing and persistent admirer, wealthy powerful simon hunt has made it clear that while he will introduce her to irresistible pleasure he will not offer her marriage. this is a book full of my pet peeves. first prologue, they kiss, they like it........... first chapter at dance: she tells him: the notion of being partnered with you in any way....... makes my blood run cold. i want my hero and heroine to LIKE EACH OTHER........ i don't want my heroine spending the entire book, oh no, no , no no, well maybe................... drives me crazy................ her mother is submitting ...

  • Not what I expected

I started the wallflower series with Devil in Winter. I was intrigued so I bought this book. It was not what I expected. There were some great parts like the fact that Simon clearly loves Annabelle. But I wanted to read more interactions and dialogues during their marriage. Instead, the author spent more time detailing their honeymoon and about Simon's past. On the good side, the author did well in developing their courtship. Overall, I was expecting more but it fell short.

  • Surprisingly very good

I was hoping it would be good but it was very good. I had trouble putting it down. A very good read.

  • The first in the Wallflower series..but not the best.

This book is the first in the "Wallflower" series. Worth the read more due to the fact that is introduces the characets for the books to follow. The character of Anabelle really gets annoying after a while and that caused me not to like the story as much. "It happened one Autumn" is the book that follws and it is much much better. "Devil in Winter" is next and I don't think Ms. Kleypas can EVER top that one. The very best one in the series!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great start to a great series of books.

I always buy Lisa Kleypas. She can always be counted on to deliver a good story. If you are looking for a fun historical romance novel set within the "ton" then look no farther than Lisa Kleypas.
