About this product

Product Information

To coincide with the publication of Stephen King and Peter Straub's extraordinary new thriller, BLACK HOUSE, here is the story that started it all. On a brisk autumn day, a twelve-year-old boy stands on the shores of the gray Atlantic, near a silent amusement park and a fading ocean resort called the Alhambra. The past has driven Jack Sawyer here: his father is gone, his mother is dying, and the world no longer makes sense. But for Jack everything is about to change. For he has been chosen to make a journey back across America--and into another realm. One of the most influential and heralded works of fantasy ever written, The Talisman is an extraordinary novel of loyalty, awakening, terror, and mystery. Jack Sawyer, on a desperate quest to save his mother's life, must search for a prize across an epic landscape of innocents and monsters, of incredible dangers and even more incredible truths. The prize is essential, but the journey means even more. Let the quest begin. . . .

    Alternate world comes to life

After my wife read ‘Bleak House’, I searched for my old copy of ‘The Talisman’ so she could read about Jack Sawyer as a child. I couldn’t find the book and bought a new copy. The characters are developed nicely and the Territories come to life. It’s one of those books that you’ll want to come back to years later...

  • Talisman

Loved it... Very smooth ... easy tranaction... would not think twice about making another purchase from this vendor. Bought this book because it is one of my favorite Stephen King books... I have read the book many times and even owned it at one point.. I loaned it to some one and the book never found it's way home... I am happy to say that a copy of The Talisman is now a member of of my Stephen King collection once again

  • oldie but goodie

Had read this years ago, got the sequel to it so had to re read to be sure I knew what was going on in the new one.

  • The Talisman by Stephen King

Stephen King never disappoints. As with all of his books that I've read, the story was imaginative and original. Lots of suspense mixed with humor. Some good twists, too. This is a book that will hold your interest, you won't want to put it down. This story wasn't too dark, a nice change. And it actually had a good ending, a lost art nowadays. I highly recommend this book.

  • a favorite for years

seriously, this book has stayed with me since i first read it when i was 12 (even though it's long, i've read it 4 or 5 times). the characters are so well realized and the epic adventure of a kid hasn't been done this well again - jack would make harry potter look like a pansy fool. it's funny, haunting, scary and emotionally deep. love it!
