    My new favorite strings.

After trying lots of different string brands over the last four decades, I decided to give RotoSound another try. I’m thrilled with the Jazz set composition, it’s well balanced and has a wonder feel. The tone is clear with frequency response similar to a round wound string yet very distinctive. The quality of these strings is fantastic; the silk wrapping on the machine head end is a nice touch that looks great on my bass. Highly recommended.

  • Bright at first, mellow as they age: nice balanced tone.

The strings have a nice bright, metallic ring to them when brand-new: very Steve Harris-esque. However, judicious use of your tone knob can tame that. As they age they mellow out nicely, and give you a a rounder sound with more midrange. I vastly prefer these to Fender flatwounds. Used on many great rock records, and perfect for me.

  • Great flat for something a little different flat flavor

Nice flat for something a little different than the tradition 60s thump. I like to have one bass with Roto flats for variety. They are a little more stiff and not super smooth like GHS Precision flats or the like, and are a little lower in volume, but provide a nice alternative flat flavor. Whatever gauge you normally play, might go one lighter.

  • This is the tone for me

Rotosound 77 strings sound the best to me on my pbass. They are marginally brighter than other flats which I think makes them perfect. If you need a more double bass sound check out 88s they are great too.

  • Rotosound Flat Wound Strings

Rotosound has the most experience with flatwound strings, and has been making them longer than anyone else. I don't buy flatwounds from anyone else. Try 'em you'll like 'em. Nuff said! Sincerely, historymajorrhg
