  • Quill and Beadwork of the Western Sioux / Carrie Lyford

When I purchased this book I had forgotten that I already had it, but I am glad I did any how. This book is a larger book in size than the one that I have and it is much easier to read. This particular book is an excellent book if you are teaching yourself how to do quill and bead work. Though I am Native American (Lakota) I didn't have any family members from whom I could learn these skills so I turned to books and this one, I have several others by other authors; is one that I turned to again and again. If you want to learn how to do bead and quill work this a book you need to have in your library.

  • QUILL AND BEADWORK OF THE SIOUX

This book was part of "THE INDIAN HANDCRAFT SERIES" published by the Bureau of Indian Affairs,Dept of the Interior. The series was part of the vocational education program of Haskell Indian Junior College,Lawrence Kansas. These are reprints from the 1940's and 1980's. The many pictures are in black and white, this book has patterns used in sioux quill and beadwork. how too's in selecting the skins, sinew, dyeing the quills, technique and sewing. there are other books in this series that have been reprinted.

  • Great for beginners

I have very recently decided to try my hand at beadwork, and this particular book was the most help to me. It has a varity of beading techniques, with great easy to follow directions. Out of the MANY beading books I have purchased, this one has the most detailed instructions. Wish I had found it BEFORE buying the others! I would reccomend this book to any begining beader. Fantastic!
