These are good PWM Rheostats, but beware they burn out easily if you are doing any kind of experiments. I burnt this one out by running it close to 20amps (though it's rated for 30).Beyond that, they're pretty good at low amperage. They start sending power generally around 1.5v unless you make micron adjustments. You can use 2 in series, but the first will need to be set to 5.5vdc before the second starts to function - before that it sends all V directly through second control.
