    Old but still good

    I had 2 requirements for a new router: 1) Fast enough to avoid becoming the bottleneck in my home network (my cable modem connection is 300 Mbps so that is the bar it had to beat) 2) Not look ridiculous sitting in the open in my living room That second criteria ruled out most new routers except for the expensive mesh ones. I didn't need the mesh features since my space is pretty small but most of the mesh routers still cost $100-150. This 6th Gen AirPort Extreme was less than half the price of the new alternatives and it met both of my criteria. My only complaint with Apple wifi routers is that they cannot be configured via a web browser like most other wifi routers.

    Fully functional, excellent condition, cosmetically clean example of an Apple A1521 Airport Extreme 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 base station. After a quick factory reset and an update to the latest firmware (7.9.1) it connected easily to my meshed network giving me the full 1Mbps data rate of the 802.11ac spec.     Overall I’m satisfied. It’s fast enough for my purposes

    At first products amber light stayed on, indicating over heating In software utility. The fix is to turn off sharing option in airport utility app. Now green light stays on and unit works fine.

    Older but highly reliable router

    This is an older router from Apple. It is simple to add to a network. Just plug it in; reset it if the previous owner did not, Supply a network name and password. The router takes care of the rest.
