There are a few books in our large collection of kids books that I really love. Mercer Mayer books are definitely among these. I just LOVE the Little Critter books. They are so cute and no matter how many times we read each of these books the boys still LOVE searching for the tiny mouse and/or spider hidden on each page! So it was no surprise to me that the boys loved this new book from Mercer Mayer, Little Monster Fun and Learn Book . This a large book compared to the Little Critter series but it is divided into short stories that are perfect for bedtime reading. This is the perfect book for the older Mercer Mayer fan. My l ittle monsters (almost 8 and 9 years old) have taken it to bed to read several times. This book is divided into four different chapters with the first two being the alphabet and numbers. These were perfect for my preschooler because he doesn't know how to identify his letters or numbers yet. While reading the letters it tells a little sentence that tells us an item that starts with a letter. For example: R is a red rubber raft. It is a cute way to teach. The numbers also have items on the page to match the number so I was able to say the number and then we counted the objects on the page. There was also cute little stories written on the number pages. The third chapter deals wit the monster's neighborhood. The story tells us about different monster's in the area, and different places. All three of my boys enjoyed this chapter being read to them. The fourth chapter is called bedtime and has cute little rhyming stories, which are very funny. All three of my boys enjoyed me reading this book to them. They thought that the monster's were funny. What was also great about this book was all of the pictures.
