IMAX-Galapagos-stunning-exhilarating-surprising
I initially ordered this DVD for two reasons. One it is narrated by my favorite actor Kenneth Branagh. The other reason was I had fallen in love with the Galapagos Islands from watching "Master and Commander:Far Side of the Sea", which was the first movie filmed in that location. But delightfully this DVD stands on its own. After a few moments I was unaware of the narrator and lost in the wonders of the stunning visuals. The IMAX camera work, as usual, is so up close and personal, you feel you are there. I went to the bottom of an ancient cave, across a frozen lava flat, and descended 3,000 feet to the ocean floor with Dr. Carole Baldwin. There we discovered dozens of new species never seen by human eyes. My 16 year old son wandered into the room while I was watching and stayed to ... I initially ordered this DVD for two reasons. IMAX - Galapagos ( 2002)
The IMAX format captures images at a far greater resolution than the standard cameras. This feature was digitally re-mastered from the original 70MM film format. The Smithsonian Institute produced a great winner here, and the underwater photography is fantastic! Once you see this film, you will understand why Ecuador protects this treasure of life on these isolated islands.

Wonderful. Recommend to everyone. I had no idea what a complex assortment of water and land inhabitants existed in this or any region of the world. This truly is an educational DVD that should be shown in schools. This DVD has the ability to spark interest and insight into the vast creations here on Earth.

Galapagos
Personally, I didn't care for it that much. I've seen other Galapagos videos that focused more on the flora and fauna and not so much on submersibles. However, the kids that watched the dvd thought it was great. They enjoyed it. So, based on that I'll recommend it.
