  • julia quinn an offer from a gentleman

BACK OF BOOK SAYS: sophia beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into lady bridgerton's famed masquerade ball or that prince charming would be waiting there for her. though the daughter of an earl sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful step mother. but now spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastingly handsome bededict bridgerton, she feels like royalty. alas she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight. this is julia quinns take on cinderella, and usually i read a book to escape not to get depressed. and you do. the first couple of chapters really pull at the heart strings,,,,,,, and things to slowly get better...... i like the rescue from cavendar he's a creap, and i don't like that the first thing these men thing ...

  • Bridgerton Series gets better and better

Julia Quinn is a wonderful regency romance writer who has been called the Jane Austin of our time. She definately lives up to this reputation with this wonderful edition of the Bridgerton series. In this edition a down on her luck gentle born lady is thrust into a world of servitude. She is saved from this life by Benedict Bridgerton who whisks her away to his cabin in the country and promptly becomes deathly ill. Sophie is forced to care for him and nurse him back to health. As there feelings for each other grow, so do the complications that come with the difference in their social positions. This is a good read and a welcome addition to the Bridgerton series. I highly recommend this book and all of Julia Quinn's regency masterpieces.

  • An Offer from a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

This is one of the best historical romances I've ever read. It was so romantic. The best thing about it was the "Cinderella angle". The lady meets her gentleman at a masquerade ball, then has to run off at midnight, so that she can take the family coach home without being noticed, otherwise her wicked stepmother will make her life even more of a living hell than it already is. She leaves without ever telling the gentleman who she is, and he spends the better part of two years searching for her. When they finally get reunited, she has been reduced to working as an upstairs maid for some family, and had to cut her hair to sell it to a wig maker, so she could eat. He doesn't even recognize her, but falls in love with her anyway. This was a great book!

  • A Cinderella Story

This is probably my least favorite Julia Quinn novel but even then, that merits it an average rating because Quinn is so wonderfully witty and refreshing. It's a different twist on a Cinderella story and the reason I didn't like it was because it places the hero of the story, Benedict Bridgerton, in a surprisingly unsympathetic light that I did not feel was at all characteristic of Quinn's usual treatment of her male protagonists. Still, the story (as in, the manner in which it is written) is nice enough and it seems a shame to read the whole Bridgerton series and not this one. So if you're an ardent fan of the Bridgerton family, go for it by all means. I mean, I did.
