    Dont buy any IQ3600s

Old maps and technology, don't buy these old gps'unless you get the unlock codes from the owner. The button on the unit I bought to scroll up is broken so some features don't work as they should.

  • a better battery and it would be excellent

I have had one of these for years. The only down side is the the battery, it just is not enough to use it for more than a couple or few hours. Use it with the car kit and it is great. The OEM car kit has a speaker built in to it that is great (the units tiny speaker can not compete really with road noise. once in awhile it may freeze and you have to re-set it; other than that the only time I have ever had a problem it turned out to be the SD card and not the 3600. I have logged 1000's of miles on "Betty" and she has been a wonderful companion for someone like myself who has anxiety when traveling in unknown locations. Every time I see the latest and greatest GPS units come to market I debate whether I should upgrade, but the newer models just dont appeal to me like the 3600. The way that ...

  • Great PDA and OK GPS, when it works.

The Garmin iQue 3600 functions as both a PDA and a GPS and this combined function was the primary reason for selecting this unit back in 2004. There are functions to keep phone lists with addresses, hunting and fishing times, memos, documents, phases of the sun and moon, a date book and several others including a MP3 player capability and the ability to password protect your data. Addresses you enter can be mapped to their location on the GPS map making it easy to navigate to specific locations not included in the millions of points of interest identified in the software. The GPS, however, is only as good as the maps that you get for it. The original maps by Navteq had numerous serious errors and subsequent versions of the maps have not corrected many of those errors. If the user uses ...

  • Garmin IQue 3600

The iQue 3600 combines a Palm Operating system with a GPS. It can be used handheld but an powered garmin auto cradle is recommended since battery life is limited with the GPS turned on. The maps are straight forward. The ability to route to any address in your Address listings is awesome. I cannot imagine why anyone would buy an iPod when you can use this with additional software to do everything an ipod will do (mp3 player, pictures, and video) plus anything a Palm Pilot will do and GPS. Note: separate software necessary to view pictures and video. Added 3/6/08 It took almost a month to get the previous owner (a cousin of the seller) to release the regisration on the serial number so I could register it. All Garmin Products with Serial Number need to be released by the previous ...

  • The ique 3600 is about the best unit ever made.

This is my third one. One thing I might mention, Be sure the "brand new unit has not been registered already. The last "Brand New, Never been used" one I bought on ebay had "already been registered", and it was impossible to register it with Garmin. I guess Garmin customer service does not support this model any more any way, so it does not matter much as long as you do not want to upgrade maps. If you use the old map program that came with it, it works very well, and has many good features that other units do not have. Too bad Garmin does not make this model anymore!
