Bioware's original space-opera trilogy concludes with Mass Effect 3, in the signature RPG-shooter style of its predecessors. Players resume the role of series protagonist Commander Shepard, once again customizable in appearance and character development. Combat is made more challenging by smarter computer-controlled opponents that adjust their tactics in the middle of a fight. An increased emphasis on melee and movement leads to closer, more furious battles. Players chart the course of the adventure, by traveling to remote planets and choosing which missions to attempt. Decimated by a force of soulless invaders, known only as the Reapers, the human race is on the brink of extinction. It is left to the player to ply influence, make alliances, and discover the galactic secrets that are the last hope for human survival. Players have the option to import saved data from both previous Mass Effect games, in order to continue their own personalized narratives, or to start fresh with a new iteration of the hero. Shepard adventures along with a diverse crew of specialists, also customizable by the player. Weapons can be upgraded with scopes, grips, and other looted parts. For the first time in the series a multiplayer mode is included. Up to four players can team up online to face off against the computer-controlled opponents and gain experience with which to upgrade their characters. Leveing up in the game's online mode also impacts the single-player game by increasing the user's "Galaxy at War Readiness" rating.

A fitting conclusion to my favorite series of all time. A sad, emotional ending to a game that claimed many hours of my life. May be behind ME2 in terms of the total package but still a good game in it's own right. I love you Jack.

Just Ok
I was hooked on Mass 2. I enjoyed the visit on all the planets and when I found activity to solve and play. Mass 3 is this relentless shoot out that never ends. It seems that is more of a shooter then hunt and solve game. Just my opinion. I'm 62 and don't care for big creatures that you have to have endless ammo to kill. This game may get dusty on my shelf

Mass Effect 3 is a great game all around. It is technically an RPG so you choose a character class and level them up throughout the game. However, if you do not like that, there is now an option to just play the game like a shooter, making it even more versatile. There are multiple classes to choose from each with their own benefits and skills. You do not need to play the first two previous games to understand this one, i didn't play them and i was fine. It may be a little confusing at first, but it's completely doable. The enormous galaxy is impressive as you know the creators took their time to create it. All the different species and worlds, each with their own background and history makes this game come alive. The main point of the game is to raise an army to take back earth ... However, the choices you make throughout the game matter, and i say pick wisely. There is a percentage to let you know your readiness to fight. It goes up with each new person or army you get on your side. This is a cool way to do things, the downside? To have a high readiness rating, you have to play multiplayer. It's a shame the game forces you to do this to get a better ending, but multiplayer is fairly fun in itself so it's not all bad. If not a little redundant. Then again, even though there are technically a number of endings, the difference between them is rather small that you get one, and you are't missing out on the others. The story itself is great and i found myself spending hours to walk around and communicate with my comrades. You also have the ability to make your character either a Paragon or a Renegade. This changes how characters view him and the responses he says. It's another factor that adds to this game, choosing basically whether you're a kind and gentle command everyone loves. Or a cruel and strict commander that everyone fears. This game is incredibly fun. The different classes and the improved combat system is wonderful. It's more smooth and effective than before. Some parts of the game are boring and repetitive like the planet scanning. Also, the loading times are annoying, i have to admit, but you can see passed them. The main story immersion of trying to save earth is incredibly rewarding. Any level that has a giant alien Reaper ship shooting at you kicks the intensity up a notch. I'm already on my third play through with a new character. The replay-ability factor is huge in this game. Making it worth the money all the more. I really suggest you buy this game.

Disappointing ending but a fun sci fi shooter
To be honest I played this straight through with a total of 6,800 military strength. ( 7,000) is max. I went 100% paragon and I took the neutral ending which I think is the best. The game was the same as the first 2 but it felt like it lacked some exploration. In the first game you could spend weeks checking out planets. In this one the reapers are everywhere so almost no exploration. I gave it 4 stars because of it being a little disappointing. I don't think I'll play it through a second or third time like I did the first 2 games.
