Training Day - One of the Best EVER!!
The scene... Hard looking dudes are lining the stairs up to the house. The 'Bad' cop has a surprise instore for the 'Good' cop. Gifts in hand, they pass the rough crowd to the door. Three amigos allow entrance and the gifts are accepted. Of them are several hundred dollars, whom on of the Gangsta's biotchs is told to count. She replies that she has other stuff to do, but goes to count the money. Meanwhile, 'Good' cop is in the kitchen with the three hombres. They are playing a round of poker when one askes to see the cops gun. Wanting to avoid any conflicts, he hands him his gun after disarming it. The vato points the 'Good' cop's gun directly in his face and pretents to pull the trigger. Uneasy, the 'Good' cop ... The scene... Hard looking dudes are lining the stairs up to the house. The vato's drag his bleeding face into the bathroom where they have prepared an execution. Sawed off shotgun drawn, hot water running and 'good' cop pleading for his life, they are ready to handle their business. Just before the trigger is pulled, one of the homeboys decides to get his money out of his pocket. What they find is the wallet that belongs to their neice. This is some trippy shit - one says and the 'good' cop is lifted to his feet. You know it was just business - no hard feelings. This is one of the scenes that keeps you on your seat. If you have not seen this movie, then you need to take the time and see what led up to this moment when the 'good' cop was given a 2nd chance and the homies now switched sides to cover his back. Constant events keep this movie in full motion throughout as everything causes and effects the next scene. A MUST WATCH!

This movie does everything right.
Disclaimer: I own almost 500 movies, and this is in my top 10. This is the best acting I've ever seen Denzel do. Most movies he just plays a 'good guy' which isn't much of a stretch between the actor and his character. His Alonzo is such a contrast with every other role he's ever played, and seems so natural to him that it makes you wonder why he doesn't take parts like this more often. As far as the Blu-Ray transfer goes, I have no complaints. This is a character-driven film, and as such, the camera is on the actor's faces much of the time, and it's amazing to see so much facial detail, making the emotions of the characters even more noticeable. Denzel's stand out momement
There has been plenty of good Denzel Washington films.. but there has only been two stand out moments of career in my opinion. The first was when he played Malcolm X and then as Alonzo in Training Day. Why are these stand out moments? Because these characters did not fit the mold of the characters he normally embodied.. the innocent, good guy cop or father. In Training Day just like Malcolm X, Denzel makes the characters believable, as if he has an out of body experience and enters the reality of the character. This movie is great, original concept, definitely an add to the DVD collection - especially in Blu-ray!! Crystal clear quality!There has been plenty of good Denzel Washington films.. but there has only been two stand out moments of career in my opinion. Training Day review
I love this movie. It was made at a time in Denzel Washington's career where his characters were always the good guy or the hero. Training Day showed me a side of Denzel that was exciting to watch. He is the epitome of a corrupt cop in this movie. He justifies becoming one the bad guys by still claiming to fight for the good guys. Ethan Hawke portrays his character in an equally compelling and exciting manner. He is a new undercover cop who wants to make a name for himself and he struggles between his ambition to succeed against his desire to keep his hands clean. I love this movie for its raw intensity. The plot was believable and the characters were genuine. The only thing I did not like was the presence of excessive profanity, but that is to be expected in this type of movie ... I love this movie.
