    THE NIGHT OF THE DANCE

    Remarkable debut mystery, an Edgar finalist, introducing the retired Texas Ranger Jeremiah Spur who knows who he is and the young black Deputy Sheriff Clyde Thomas who is too furious about the situation he is in to recognize that "who he is" is changing. Hime rounds up a great set of Texas characters here and sentence by sentence shows that he ranks with the very best living mystery writers.
