  • Movie on St. Francis of Assisi

The movie related stories about St. Francis of Assis. (1182-1226) who was the founder of the Franciscan Order and who is the patron of ecology, of animals and of Italy. While it is in Italian with English subtitles, you can get so caught up in following the stories that you almost forget that you are reading a translation in subtitles. Black and white movie is a bit distracting because we are so used to color....I purchased the movie because of my interest in St. Francis of Assis, his philosophy and his spirituality. This movie demonstrates some of that to a small degree.

  • Francesco, Giullare di Dio

Have seen the movie since very young and loved it. Now, I enjoy it with my family and friends. The story is so well done, it takes you back to the time of St. Francis of Assisi, depicted in the same regions where he actually lived and died. Is realistic, with all his brothers and friars, and well translated. There is nothing I and my family dislike about it....just wish it were longer, as you literally want it to go on forever. A must have and see for all families who beleive in God; all Christians and non-Christians, as it also depicts the meeting of Saint Francis of Assisi with the Sultan of that time, thus showing that we can all love one another as HE has loved us.
