  • One of the best reads, ever. A classic for humanity.

The fish were always an after thought to John. If you've never seen Cannery Row, and it's town-lets, Steinbeck gives you a beer-shake, frog scented taste of that which is sublime here in the actual space and in the mind of Steinbeck longing to return to the sea and to his friends real and imagined. A book written more for men who have grown weary of women, to tell the truth. As a feminine woman, I'm not insulted. • Nice short read

A good read but not great. Much better than Tortilla Flats but nowhere at the level of The Grapes of Rath or East of Eden . I would not recommend Tortilla Flats but would Cannery Row . The characters and story line are much more in depth.
