    The Star Atlas To Own!

    Norton's Star Atlas has provided untold numbers of amateur astronomers with their primary star atlas and telescopic handbook. I own 5 editions myself, and have compared it to others like the Skalnate Pleso atlas for example. There is no comparison. The handbook is a veritable compendium of information for the amateur astronomer: history, stellar types and evolution, types of telescopes, and a detailed map of the moon. But the real gem lies with the star maps...covering all of the heavens and with wonderfully compiled notes on every interesting object found on each map. When I am observing with my 8" Dobsonian, or when I am just "armchair" observing at home, this is the one and only reference. Coupled with Burnham's Celestial Handbook it is the best sky atlas to have in any astronomer's ...
