I'll take a kick in the teeth over this one ...
Not even Claude Rains could save this bomb. An utterly terrible film about a planet on a collision course with earth. Some truly laughable spaceships here, which are built around cigarette lighters. When they turn the flame on, instead of shooting out the back like engine exhaust, they burn exactly as if you were holding a lighter sideways. You'd think the movement of a spaceship would force the exhaust to trail behind it, but since these don't move all that fast (it would blow the lighter out if they were swinging them all over the set) you get some seriously lame outer space scenes. I don't know how the things didn't catch on fire. Claude looks about dead here, and in fact he died 6 years later. A miserable ending for the career of one of horror's greats; this movie is to be avoided by ... Not even Claude Rains could save this bomb.
