    I love this 2 disc set--it has a treasure trove of information about Jimmy Cagney--so much info you'll have to watch it again & again--it has a great commentary track--Every one remembers his tough guy roles--( Public Enemy (1931) with the grapefruit in the girl's face /or White Heat (1949) "I made Ma-Top of the World!" and getting blown up--Well this man was a FABULOUS dancer as you will see viewing it--Buy it on Ebay--you won't be sorry--frankjann2012

    A Dandy isn't always bad

    This is my all time favorite movie, bar none. I have watched it for over 55 years and it gets better every time. If you need a movie to lift your spirits, this is it. The singing and dancing are great and the theme couldn't be better. If you don't get tears in your eyes at some point in this movie there's something wrong. Just remember my mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you and I thank you. From a gangster to a lively song writer, dancer, singer and producer James Cagney really showed his talents in this movie.

    Yankee Doodle is Dandy!

    Yankee Doodle Dandy is a movie that captured my heart when I was a child and first watched it on my parents black and white television. Over the years, this film has lost none of it's charms. In it, James Cagney gives what I consider to be his best performance as George M Cohan, the Irish vaudeville performer, composer and dancer. The music and dancing are spectacular, even if some of the songs have been considered by some as jingoistic. You'll forget politics as you enjoy the music, dancing, humor and joy that is this classic black and white film. I decided to buy Yankee Doodle Dandy because I love it and because I wanted to show it at our senior center for St. Patrick's day as a tribute to the Irish and to George Cohan. I have never seen our ethnically mixed ...

    Yankee Doodle Dandy even better on DVD

    I grew up watching this movie whenever it aired on Public Television in the 80's. When it finally became available on VHS it was a MUST BUY. With the DVD and 2 disc DVD set, the movie is sharper and the audio is crisp. The included bonus material includes an authentic "Night at the movies" type mode including a newsreel, cartoon and previews from the time period when Yankee Doodle Dandy was in theaters. The bonus features in the 2 disc set are great for movie lovers that want to see more. I'm also pleased that they didn't ruin the movie by trying to colorize it. Like most classics, it didn't need the color then and sure doesn't need it now. Overall, It's a real winner.
