She tells the story of the little town by the Atlantic and the Everglades nearby in the first decades of the last century, when she was a child. Callie moves through the roaring twenties, Depression and World War II as a 38-year teacher and talks about the descendants of her father and mother--100 people all born in this woman's lifetime. Wild rides on sand roads, home-made elixers, the old pump and wood stove and hurricanes which had no warnings--these are the stories of the book this woman of almost 100 years has told.
