Great device provided you take a little care up front!
The RT31P2 is an excellent low cost alternative to the Vonage V Portal device. Two "gotchas" to beware - 1) Remember that it will normally only be usable with Vonage, not other VoIP carriers. 2) Make sure that the MAC ID of the box you are going to buy has been taken off the original owner's account - if you can't, and the original owner still has it registered, you can't use it. If you are buying from the existing owner there should be no difficulties in making sure this is the case (or in getting the owner to contact Vonage to get it taken off his/her account.) If, on the other hand, you buy from a third party there is a possibility that the RT31P2 original owner can't be contacted and you're entirely dependent on Vonage for sorting out the mess. Being dependent on Vonage for that is ... The RT31P2 is an excellent low cost alternative to the Vonage V Portal device. For a seller of a RT31P2
Be aware that this router does an automatic firmware update. If you unplug the power during firmware update you will brick the router or the voice part. The folowing scenario could happen: You have this router for a long time but for some reason (like upgraded to wireless) you keep it in your closet. One day when you clean your closet you find it and decide to sell it on eBay. Before listing it you perform a quick test to see if it still works. You connect it to the PC and to the modem and see if you have internet on the PC. Since last time you use it there is a new firmware and the router start the automatic update. Unaware of that and happy that is working you unplug the power to take a picture, unaware that you have corupted the router's EPROM by unpluging the power during a firmware ... Be aware that this router does an automatic firmware update. If you unplug the power during firmware update you will brick the router or the voice part. Works as well as a PAP2
I bought this because it was cheaper than a PAP2. I'm using it with Asterisk as part of a small PBX. It is configured pretty much identically to a PAP2 as far as the VOIP part of it. The latest firmware for the RT31P2 appears to have all the same options as the latest firmware for the PAP2-NA. I'm not using the router part of it. It cannot access a SIP server connected to the LAN port. Not a big deal, just connect it using the WAN port, but first connect a PC to the LAN port and configure it to enable access to the web interface from the WAN port. I've found that the only disadvantages this unit has compared to the PAP2 is that it doesn't have the IVR menu (which tells you what IP address it has) and it uses more power and runs a little warmer. I use this for my computer,Xbox and Ps2 and works great
The cost was cheap and Linksys tech support help me get it set up quick. I didn't need a wireless one and went with wired and this one works great. I haven't had any problems when the Ps2 and computer are going at the same time. Would reccomend this item.

Linksys RT31P2 Wired Router - The Best!
Unlike many similar products that maintain normal SIP connection through SIPSORCERY. As a router works reliably without the need to reboot. Its price is low and quality high. Only drawback is the lack of opportunity to create dialplan of settings. I own 3 other such devices and 3 and am very pleased. Highly recommend it!
