About this product

Product Information

The early 1990s saw "lad" culture filtering into the mainstream in the U.K., with magazines such as Maxim and Loaded presenting bawdy, risqué accounts of the activities of the modern male. Bands such as Oasis attained huge success, with charismatic singer Liam Gallagher perhaps typifying the proper cheeky behavior. Television wasn't immune either, with the hit show MEN BEHAVING BADLY embodying the world of the lad in its two principle characters: Gary (Martin Clunes) and Tony (Neil Morrissey). The two live together in a flat beset by untidy squalor, with Gary's girlfriend, Dorothy (Caroline Quentin), inhabiting the flat upstairs with her friend Deborah (Leslie Ash). Tony's attempts to woo Deborah are met with firm rebuttals throughout the show, while Gary undergoes various crises of confidence and commitment worries in his relationship with Dorothy. The hapless pairing of the angst-ridden Gary and Tony ensures laughs aplenty throughout, as they try to escape their sorrows in alcohol-fueled discussions of the female anatomy and the mysteries of womankind. All six seasons of the show are included on this collection.

  • Dysfunction has never been as funny before or since

All the episodes in this under exposed but still much loved series are here including the early pre-Tony shows, and the '97/'98 series wrap up specials. None of these bookend episode have ever been widely or regularly shown on US television. They'll count as prized "new" content to most viewers as they have the same sharp funny writing as the central episodes. However the closest thing to truly new/bonus content is a few minutes of outtakes for each year, and an interactive quiz game for some but not all years. Given the age and popularity of the series, that was to be expected but it's still a bit disappointing. Definitely an obvious recommend to anyone you know who loved "Married with Children" or "Unhappily Ever After", it also has ties to "smarter" fare such as "Malcolm in the ...

  • Loved this series and highly recommend it for the laughs.

I can see why this series was so popular in the UK and made Martin Clunes a star. The show is hilarious! I much prefer it starting with the second season where Tony (Neil Morrissey) becomes Gary's (Martin Clunes) roommate. I love that they are so brave with the things they do on this show and that the Brits are less uptight about so many things. The show is from the 90's and everything reflects that. The humor is still great today. They did an American version of this show with Rob Schneider, and it couldn't compare.
