  • An OVA that earns its stripes

Out of all the Gundam series, this is probably one of the most consistent in terms of production (the other being 08th MS Team). The dub, apart from a few scratchy one-offs in the first episode, is great. Having solid talent like Dorothy Fahn, Paul St Peters, and Beau Billingslea helps a lot. The animation is fantastic, as one would hope from 1990s-era Sunrise. Best of all, it's only 13 episodes! From what I've heard, a number of the other Gundam series (old and new) get bogged down by their long episode lengths. There are a few plot hiccups in the second half, but considering the franchise as a whole (if not anime as a whole), they weren't anything unexpected.

  • Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory

Set in the Universal Century Era Year 0083, the 13 episode OVA starts off with Rookie Federation Pilot Kou Uraki is stationed at the Torrington Base in Australia on a Training Exersize with his fellow co-pilots in an impressive MS battle. Later in the episode, a Trojan Horse class Albion lands on Torrington Base with 2 new prototype Gundams, the GP01 and the heavy armored GP02a. The GP02 is jacked by the Zeon Ace Anavel Gato having the title as "The Nightmare of Solomon" placed proudly on him by his commrads and feared by the Federation forces. Its is up to Kou and his co pilots to bring back the GP02 or destroy it completely. The whole series itself is a flat out fanservice of mecha action and impressive designs as well as a griping story line to go with it as you see the rookie Kou ...

  • Stardust Memory

I just got done writing a review to Gundam Wing. It's hard to tell whether this series or Gundam Wing is my fav. I slightly lean toward 0083 because you have a past series to look to and even more series past it. I love the plot outline and the feelings that the characters portray. It's very believeable, and animes about wars such as these are usually just great - there's just no other way to explain it. The Zeon return in this series to start the 'one-year war' again because they feel that they were betrayed by the Feddies. They resort to stealing a Gundam that's armed with nuclear weaponry. The Feddies get a test-pilot to pilot the Gundam(and he does so very capably). The best warrior that the Zeon has to offer was the one that stole the Gundam, now the test-pilot Kou Uraki must ...

  • An Excellent Title!

Recently, I bought Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory in a recent spree of shopping here on ebay. I had always been fascinated with the action figures, and I was eager to get my hands on the source material, part of which is this anime title. Stardust Memory was my first shot at the series. The best part about this, is that you don't really need to have watched previous series to fully understand the story. I bought this boxed set because I did not want to have to search for the titles individually. All the extra features, such as the "Mobile Suit Encyclopedia" help to further enhance the experiance, buy providing a little extra information on the various mecha in this series. When buying anime, you cannot go wrong with the Gundam series!
