NOT a soundtrack album... not even close!
I have this CD and see it advertized all over as a "Soundtrack Album." It is NOT! It is a studio recording, made in Europe in 1962 [which also means the listed SPARS code of "DDD" is false. It is ADD at best. All that having been cleared up, this CD is a re-release of an early "Somerset Stereo" LP that you found in the 99 cent bin at department stores, touting a full-frequency hi-fi range from 20-20,000 Hz. Well, the sound here is good, but certainly not Mercury Living Presence or RCA Living Stereo quality. The playing is average, and sometimes quite muscular, which adds excitement along the way, but the tempos are slower then you'd be used to if you're familiar with the actual ORIGINAL movie soundtracks, and the chorus sings with a curiously "wobbly" tone. I still wonder why a 99 cent average analog record from 1962 should resurface as a $10 - $17 premium priced CD.

Ben Hur/El Cid/King of Kings-CD
This is a great CD to listen to the mind,direction.and writing of music scores from Miklos Rosza. Nice sampling of how he was chosen and revered as a composer of some of the largest religious movies/epics ever made. He was entrusted in grasping the emotions of these pictures and setting them to sounds,which he did mightily. By listening you can transfix yourself into Juda Ben Hur's time or Christ's time up to the Crucifixtion. Can't go wrong with this sampler.This is a great CD to listen to the mind,direction.and writing of music scores from Miklos Rosza.
