Received the magazine as pictured and described! It was a bit delayed due to a bad winter storm in my area, however the seller was quick to communicate back with me when it hadn't arrived on time. They sent me the tracking number to keep an eye out for it and even offered to inquire into the package for me if it didn't arrive by a certain date. Overall a great experience by the seller :)

  • Absolutely amazing, insightful, and wonderful!!!

The book itself is composed of various different letters that Master Tolkien wrote in his lifetime. There are some written to family, others to friends and publishers. One in particular...after his wife passed away...to his son. The way this man loved WORDS shows in the very writing of his own personal letters. If you have any respect of this author, this book is a MUST for your collection!

  • A great book to read!

A great book that will interest any literary person that wants to know more about Tolkien himself.

  • The Letters of J.R.R Tolkien by Humphery Carpenter(1981

This book is a great addition to any other Tolkien books that you may already have.It gives you the sense that you kind of knew Tolkien and the kind of person he was.He wrote back fans and even gave a fan an autographed copy along with a hand written letter that was in elvish. It gives you insight on what he was thinking when the books were being written.I love this book and I had always wanted one that was considered vintage. If you decide to buy this book I hope you enjoy it the way I have.

  • A valuable resource and a great read.

Anyone interested in the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit would enjoy going through Tolkien's letters. You can follow the whole story from the beginning through the arduous publishing details, and then the aftermath with his own clarifications.
