Collector's item - YES; Satisfying story - meh.
(May be some spoilers here...) Well if you are a Firefly fan then who doesn't want to know Who The Heck Was Shepard Book??? This is supposedly the story to explain everything. OK, so I read it and I get that it was approved by Joss himself, but honestly my own imagination before reading this was MUCH better. The story they present is plausible and fits logically with the show, but with all the parallels between Book and the assassin from the Serenity movie, doesn't it seem near-obvious that Book should have been the same guy when he was younger but got sick and tired of all the killing? Lethal and repentant? THAT would have been a MUCH more satisfying story. But its not the story you will read in this book. Is it worth the high price? As a hardcore Firefly fan or ...
