  • Good movie, mediocre transfer

Solid film, but find a better copy. Sound quality, especially during the songs, is bad. Not sure what this was transferred from, but it's definitely been edited for content. There appear to be different copies on the market. Don't buy the one from Passion Productions/PMC.

  • Roger Moore and Susannah York, a great combo

This was my first viewing of this movie and I found it to be a great story. Roger Moore plays the part of a mine manager who some bigwigs try to use as a scapegoat in a plot to raise the price of gold. This movie is full of non-stop adventure and is a must have for your personal video library. Great scenery and gives you a good idea of how gold is mined underground.

  • Never a Dull Moment with Roger on Board

It's not a 5-star movie but it's awfully good. Roger Moore leads an interesting cast in a well thought out plot (adapted from a novel by Wilbur Smith) with sufficient action and intrigue to give scope to some of his typical derring-do, even though this is not a typical role for him. He acts as the fairly mild manager of a goldmine (presumably in South africa - not sure whether it's actually set in a particular country or just Africa in general) but is forced to revert to kind by the machinations of his boss and a coterie of unpleasant schemers trying to cash in on a mining disaster they are planning. It's something of a period piece now, but stands the test of time well I feel and for those of us who have enjoyed The Saint, The Persuaders and his James Bond and other movies, it's always ...
