About this product

Product Information

Prepare for a new take on the 50's with Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse. In this horror game, you play the role of Edward "Stubbs" Stubblefield. After an unfortunate mishap, Stubbs finds himself dead and buried through no fault of his own. Yearning for revenge, Stubbs rises from his grave to terrorize the residents of the town of Punchbowl. Punchbowl isn't your average 1950s-era town, however. Home to one of the smartest and wealthiest men in America, this city is unlike any other. The city features hovercars, talking robots, lasers, and other futuristic weapons. Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse was released by developer Wideload Games and published by Aspyr.Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is best categorized as an action game. Players will take on the role of Stubbs as they scratch and chomp their way through over seven different gaming locales. These locations range from dense cities to sparse wooded areas. The levels are open-ended, meaning that you have multiple ways to accomplish your objectives. These goals generally revolve around defeating your enemies and converting them to your zombie army. While Stubbs the Zombie can claw and punch his enemies, his primary method of combat is eating brains. Each time you eat the brain of someone, you turn them into a member of the undead. You can then direct your horde of zombies to feast on other humans in the vicinity. For tougher characters, you have special playing abilities at your disposal. The fart cloud will incapacitate your foes so that you can chomp on their skulls with ease. You can rip off the arms of your opponents and use them as clubs to bludgeon their heads. Your guts can become explosive weapons of mass destruction. If your opponents are neatly lined up, you can use your head as a bowling ball to knock them all down. Your best weapon is your hand. By removing your hand from your body and attaching it to others, you can take control of your foes. This method of control is the only way for your character to use firearms such as laser pistols. You can also use a mind-control technique to access areas your zombie protagonist can't usually reach. While most of this video game is played on foot, sometimes you'll climb into a vehicle. These vehicles allow you to decimate your opponents with ease or just quickly get to the other side of the map. This title features a frequent auto-save system. When you die, you'll continue the game close to where your death occurred. This Xbox game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. This Xbox title earns this rating due to the copious amounts of blood and gore. For example, when your character bites into the skull of an enemy, it results in a lot of blood. This title also features adult humor and scenarios. If you're looking for a game with a hilarious take on the zombie genre, you'll love this one. The developer combined a hilarious plot with incredible gameplay to create a unique experience for the Xbox.

    Fantastic game!

A masterpiece! Stubbs the Zombie shares a game engine with Halo: Combat Evolved, and Wideload games (now long gone, I'm sad to say) used it VERY well! The setting is extremely creative, though not fully utilized--and I'd say the same for both the music and humor. Come on, an alternate timeline where an ex-Nazi scientist helps create an extremely advanced city where daily life is nearly perfect, with the player controlling an undead ex-salesman as he decimates it all?? Where does this even come from?! Yes, the urban, futuristic 1950s setting, while it was certainly new (especially at the time of the game's release), didn't seem to have much of an impact on the game. I'm convinced that there would be very little different if it was closer to how things really were then. One "level" in ...

  • zombie frenzy

fun game with a retro feel.it has updated songs that were written in the 50's but now have a modern feel but still have the old feel too.if you played destroy all humans you would probably like this one.it has a cool way of completeing missions like peeing in the town water supply to make it toxic.roll your head, throw your hand, possess humans and use them to destroy, throw gut grenades, fart to throw humans off enough to easily eat their brains. i liked this game,it is a little short but short good games are easy to play over again,i beat in with my girlfriend in co-op split screen mode in about 6-8 hours.

  • Stubbs is top quality

Even playing the game now, almost 20 years later, this game is as creative as it is fun. I know the "zombie-apocalypse" shtick has gained insane popularity, and it may seem like this situation has been done to death now, but this game really shines on its own right. The graphics are extremely impressive for the original xbox, the gameplay is awesome and addictive, the fact that you're playing as a zombie slowly creating the zombie horde is as satisfying and hysterical as you can imagine, and the soundtrack features a lot of great old songs to add comedic resonance through out. Top quality, definitely worth picking up if you're a serious gamer

  • one of the greats

Stubbs is great. Fun, challenging gameplay, huge levels to explore, tons of variety, and a sense of humor you just really don't see in games anymore. Equal parts crass, satirical, and just genuinely fun, the story in Stubbs starts as mere background dressing and turns into something actually memorable. A love story of sorts supported by this retro-futuristic world full of inept police officers and armed barber shop quartets. Add on top of everything an amazing two player split screen mode and Stubbs is a winner. Even at its high price, you shouldn't miss this game.

  • STOP EATING MEEEEEE!

this game is a refreshing, light-hearted twist on the zombie genre. you play as stubbs the zombie, a decent, working-class zombie with a taste for the cerebellum. what sets this game apart from nearly every other game out there is the originality (YOU'RE the one eating the brains!), the top-notch music (i have a soft spot for 50s tunes), the easy-to-learn controls, and most importantly: the FUN factor!!! you can play solo or team up with a buddy (TWELVE TIMES the fun). even if you go it alone, you won't be alone for long! once you eat people's brains, they turn into zombies and aid you in your delicious quest :D HOW AWESOME IS THAT?! you can MAKE people into your allies. you gain funny abilities such as the stomach bomb, atomic fart (XD), head bowling, and my favorite: the hand of ...
