The reason I gave this a four star rating is the Harper disk was very difficult to load. I was beginning to think it wouldn't. I have only watched three movies. The other two loaded without any problem. Those three were the reason I purchased the set. I would not have purchased the other movies separately but I still think this was a good purchase. It gives me a chance to view movies of Newmans that I have never seen.The reason I gave this a four star rating is the Harper disk was very difficult to load. I was beginning to think it wouldn't. Not quite want I wanted.
One slight problem the Drowning Pool disc and case were not in this collection, instead some one substituted Cool Hand Luke...and it was Pool that I wanted. The set was also missing the Macintosh Man. Both I've ordered from elsewhere.

Not the best, but certainly entertaining.
It's unfortunate that the works in Paul Newman's collection don't include his performances in "The Hustler," "Long, Hot Summer," "Cool Hand Luke," or "Hud." But this collection shows a more quirky, detective side of Paul Newman's career. The best out of the seven films are "The Young Philadelphians," "Somebody Up There Likes Me," and "Harper." What is amazing about all of them is that they're all different from one another. In "Philadelphians," he plays a man attempting to get ahead and jeopardizes his relationships with others in the process. In "Somebody Up There Likes Me," he does an outstanding portrayal of a "no good" boxer, but you somehow fall in love with the character and all his flaws [the first of his many anti-hero characterizations]. and in "Harper," a clever private eye ... "MacKintosh Man" proves that Paul Newman looks amazing at any age but the plot gets sticky after the first hour. And finally, "The Left Handed Gun." What I did love about this film was the fact that everyone thought that Billy the Kid was this amazing hero, but in the end his biggest fan realized he was almost cowardly. So, if you are a Paul Newman fan to the core, go ahead and buy this because, hey, there are some great films in here and some other ones you might learn to love. But if you're just beginning to watch Newman's films, go buy "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," or "The Hustler" and fall in love with the man who epitomizes the anti-hero.

I was primarly interested in the DVD "The Young Philadelphians" because it is very hard to come by itself. I actually do not care for drama movies except this one I really enjoy to watch over and over again. This was the first time I ever seen all the DVDs (movies) except for the one mentioned above. Two of the DVDs in the set, I did not like very much because they were very dry or dull.
