Entertaining and Instructive
I saw only part of the series when it was on PBS in the 90s, so wanted to be able to watch the entire 4 seasons. Jennifer and Clarissa are quite the team and very entertaining. They are very knowledgeable regarding the history of food, mostly British food history, and the recipes are very interesting.

I'm not a cook but I love Two Fat Ladies
Never been much of a cook but I ran across these two ladies on BBC America and was hooked. I have always been told British food wasn't so great but some of the dishes they prepared actually made me hungry for a taste. They do every thing the hard way, nothing canned, processed or saran wrapped. Every dish is from scratch and those big old heavy pans and skillets they use look like they came from the middle ages, no teflon or non stick here. I would hate to be the dish and pan scrubber after the show. They hunt land and sea for their game and sometimes actually shoot it. Some one does a lot of skinning, plucking and gutting. They may do it themselves for they prove they are not squeamish when it comes to food. Every show we get great views of the british isles from the seat of a motor ... The diversity of where they cook and whom they cook for is a thrill, they may dig a pit and roast a pig for boy scots or cook for the elite in a stately castle, it seems these ladies turn no one down. The joy of friendship between the two fat ladies and the joy of cooking always spills over into some playful recital or song from long ago and with a thick british accent one might need to listen several times to get it. Thats whats so great about the DVD set you don't miss any of the experience. I cherish the Two Fat Ladies DVD set and will watch it many many times and as I said in the beginning I am not a cook.

"Two Fat Ladies" is a 1990s British series than chronicles the motorcyle/sidecar travels of Clarissa Dickson-Wright and the late Jennifer Patterson as they cook in various UK locations along with a Christmas excursion to Jamaica. (They had to give up the bike for the Caribbean trip.) The series received spotty air time on U. S. public television and the Food Network. Thankfully, the full series - unfortunately cut short by Jennifer's death from cancer during the third season - is here with a tribute to the late star. Cooking is only one attraction of this gem. Both the ladies are natural comediennes and Clarissa's frequent double entendres go completely over the head of the clueless Jennifer. The recipes will be controversial to the low fat generation. This is a festival of butter, bacon ... The Lovely Two Fat Ladies
If you love exploring, cooking and new places, you will love Two Fat Ladies. Though a bit dry british humor, it is a vivid display of England, Scotland and Ireland. The cooking is a mix of British, a side of French, Spanish and Italian. They arent afraid to use your full fat cooking items, such as cream, butter and no nonsense. They love them selves and you can see it in their cooking. I give it 5 stars.
