    Milwaukee Magnum drill

I've been a woodworker for almost 40 years. In that time I've tried a lot of tools and appreciate quality, durability and service. A lot of companies I use are letting me down by not servicing my tools. My Bosch Drill just stopped working, it was a circuit card in the trigger had broke, Bosch has made that part obsolete, every other part is available for this drill, but the part I need, so a perfectly good drill goes in the trash. Porter Cable has gone the same route with one of my routers. The Porter Cable drill I bought, to replace the Bosch is horrible, no power and a keyless chuck that won't hold a bit. The Milwaukee 1/2" magnum drill is a good solid, smooth running drill with tons of power. I bought a used one to get a good old keyed chuck and I am not disappointed. I'm not much into ...

  • Here's Take

I recently purchased my second Milwaukee 0299-20 Magnum 1/2" Drill. Overall great value and quality. Plenty of power, good ergonomics and a chuck that grips well. The only point that could use improvement would be the Variable Speed Switch. It worked fine in most applications but if you're doing heavy drilling with a 4" Hole Saw at very low speeds it is a bit overly sensitive to control. Otherwise, it's fine and I enjoy using them. Yes, if needed I'd buy a third one.

  • Powerful drill

Very handy drill can get close to roof deck to drill venting holes. If you do not put side handle on. But hang on this drill has a lot of power. Only dislike trigger is a little long when trying to go up a ladder holding drill by pistol handle easy to grip a little to high on handle causing drill to run. Other than that I love it. It has a nice long power cord This drill is worth every penny.

  • Milwaukee Magnum 0299-20 Drill

Compared to other top brand names for a similar drill in the same category, the Milwaukee Magnum 0299-20 corded drill is a powerhouse no-frills, easy-to-use power tool. The absence of unnecessary bells & whistles that define other brands keeps the price affordable (about $100). With an emphasis on good engineering without superfluous knick-knacks, The Milwaukee Magnum 0299-20 is for the serious professional or casual user who needs great power and torque on big and small jobs for extended periods of time. It is comfortable to operate and has good balance. Its heavy-duty variable speed power range for boring and driving is more than ample for hand-held drills of this type. If you need a draught horse versus a cute pony, the Milwaukee Magnum 0299-20 drill is for you.

  • A torquey workhorse, not overly expensive. Brand name, but foreign built.

So far seems to be a good quality product. It managed to twist apart 2 of my drill bits inside a Ford 351 marine exhaust manifold without much effort, so it's got some major torque! If you need something with power, you've come to the right place. While your at it, get yourself a Drill Doctor (or some better bits!) ... trust me on this one. I bought it for the larger chuck size (than my old Sears drill), the lack of hammerdrilling (which I didn't need, nor did I want to pay for), and the fact that it's corded. My last foray into cordless products worked well for a while ... until the charger failed. It's a bit heavier than some of my cheaper drills, but that's to be expected. Like comparing a Prius to a '72 El Camino in construction & ...
