Based on Leon Uris' sweeping novel, EXODUS is the epic saga of the founding of Israel in the days following World War II. Paul Newman stars as an Israeli resistance fighter, a member of the Hagannah, involved in the effort to bring a group of 600 European Jews from British-blockaded Cyprus into newly partitioned Palestine, right before the United Nations is to vote on making it a Jewish homeland. This classic war epic from director Otto Preminger enjoyed nominations for Best Supporting Actor and Best (Color) Cinematography at the 1961 Academy Awards, and won for best Musical Score.

    "Exodus" is excellent!

    A hard-hitting, poignant reminder of what the Jews suffered in the time leading up to the establishment of modern-day Israel. I had seen this movie years ago, and never forgot the impact it had on me. I am so glad to possess the DVD now.

    Exodus featuring Paul Newman

    I had the opportunity to purchase this movie a year ago and did not purchase at that time. Recently I purchased Exodus and was amazed at the profound level of content and the message in the movie. Paul Newman as always, portrays a strong and dignified character. I enjoyed the movie, however, anyone considering purchasing this movie, be prepared to watch 3 hours of solid entertainment, from start to finish. Also, Sal Mineo has a great role in the movie, as well. This was a great buy, I am happy I finally purchased and have this movie as part of my Paul Newman Collection.

    Exodus

    I have been replacing my favorite VHS tapes with DVD's when I can. I was down to my very favorite and could/would not get rid of the VHS till I had replaced it. When I got the Exodus DVD I immediately popped it into the DVD player and was disappointed that the video portion seemed flawed. Did I get a pirated copy? I was heartbroken. BUT Perhaps there was another explanation. I did a quick internet search and found that ideed this is a common complaint for this DVD. Evidently the original film has not yet been remastered and the video is a bit imperfect in places. This fact is quickly forgotten as the plot thickens and one becomes engaged in this fantastic movie. So if you are like me and simply must have a copy of this fantastic movie, be assured that at this time to my knowlege ...

    Eagerly Awaited

    I have wanted to see this movie for sometime. I have checked all the streaming movie sites hoping to find it to no avail. I finally checked eBay to see if it was available for purchase and it was and affordable. The DVD I received was in perfect shape and I enjoyed viewing it.
