About this product

Product Information

The Federation is under siege from Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, and Orion fleets in this real-time strategy game set in the classic Star Trek universe. Playing as either James T. Kirk of the Federation or a member of the Klingon Empire in two distinct campaigns, players will need to master each ship's offensive, defensive, and maneuvering abilities to succeed in battle. The action is viewed from a third-person perspective behind a choice of starships as players engage in a series of missions structured like episodes from the television series. Rather than simply focus on combat, the game offers several diplomatic and leadership choices that will influence subsequent missions in the branching storyline.

Since each ship has varying strengths, from shields to scanning to weapons capabilities, players will need to learn how to divert resources to protect vulnerable areas as well as exploit weaknesses in the enemy's strategy. Crew members can be promoted using points earned from skillful leadership, potentially enhancing each ship's stats in a number of key areas. In addition to the two campaigns, players can challenge a friend or the computer in either the multiplayer or skirmish modes. Both options feature five playable fleets as rival captains boldly go where no DS game has gone before. Award-winning Star Trek writer Dorothy Fontana helped pen the game's storyline along with her partner, Derek Chester.

  • Good for "Trek" Fans on Ninetendo DS Platform!

If you are a fan of "Star Trek" or space games in general, you'll probably find this one worthwhile. One of the few "Star Trek" games available for Nintendo DS, I play mine almost exclusively in "Skirmish" mode, although longer mission modes are also available. Audio and visual are acceptably good, and customizable difficulty levels in "Skirmish" levels are a plus; you may choose among several ship classes, and play against ship types of several "Trek" world races. Multiplayer mode is also available.--Worth having!

  • Star Trek: Tactical Assault (Nintendo DS)

I bought this game for my father for his 60th Birthday...yes, he loves video games! But I seem to be playing it more often than he is. The graphics aren't the best, but that's really the only fault of the game. The music and game play are wonderful! It's very much a strategy game, so don't expect an all out shooter/action game, but the action does get intense. It takes some learning to get the hang of things, but once you do, it's like being in command of a real Star Trek starship. Probably wont appeal to non Star Trek fans, but if you are one, you'll enjoy.

  • SHAMELESS REMAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game was nothing but a remake of Starfleet Command (SFC) on the PSP. The controls leave a lot to be desired, with none of SFC's original command interface. (except when you play using the stylus on Nintendo DS.) Having SFC in a portable device is cool, the PC version offers SUBSTANTILLY better graphics, better gameplay, more diversity, lower price, and six different playable speciesempires, each with several different campaigns, depending on your actions. This "new" game is a ripoff. I only appreciate it's collectible value, and advise everyone exept hardcore collectors to not make the mistake of buying it.

  • Fun game for Star Trek fan

Not a bad little game. Easy to pick up and put down and a pretty fun storyline. Nothing groundbreaking but I find game and I really like it

  • I thought this game was fun!

Very under-rated game! Takes a little bit to get used to the controls but once you get it down there is no problem. Different options for crew promotions and ship upgrades allow you to customize your play style. Probably this game is more fun for Star Trek fans but I recommend it to all who enjoy simulation/strategy type games.
