  • Babylon 5 - Series 1 (DVD 2002)

About 14 years ago, while I had the pleasure of spoonfeeding my son in his highchair I stumbled upon Babylon 5 on the kitchen portable TV. Feeding was a time consuming, highly repetative task, but one night of the week I could look forward to watching Babylon 5 on the portable Black and white set while pouring food indirectly over the floor. The picture quality was alway lousy, and even worse on Channel 4! which I recall (?) was the channel showing it. Anyway, it was always interesting to see what would happen next and how the sci-fi stories all gelled together. I always thought it was good even watching with one eye on a dodgy screen and food everywhere! Now my son has just recently turned 16 and during the Summer hols we usually spend more time together than usual. We just spent the ...

  • Best Sci-Fi ever

I remember watching this series when it first came out on Channel 4 and just loved it. There were plenty of sci-fi films and series around - of course Star Trek being the most famous. But it's effects were brilliant and the story line started off quietly with each episode a story in itself. But watched carefully there were hints of the bigger picture as the story evolved. It is a series that can be watched as individual episodes but watched all through and the story as it unravels is unmissable. Much better than most sci-fi series. Personally I prefer this to any of the Star Trek franchise. Some may say it came up on the back of Star Wars but they were big budget gung-ho films where as this was a steady workhorse sort of programme. Anyone who hasn't watched it - do so!
