Notes
1983 was a banner year for Bob. First, this album of rousing rock anthems shot to #5. Then, Risky Business sent Old Time Rock & Roll back to the charts. On this release, you'll find three big hits- Shame on the Moon; Even Now, and Roll Me Away -plus stellar Seger originals like Makin' Thunderbirds and Boomtown Blues.

  • One of Bob's Best!!

I bought this album on vinyl when it was released in 1983 and have always loved it. Without a doubt Roll Me Away is the biggest hit on it and still gets considerable airplay on classic rock syations today. Having grown up less than a hundred miles from Detroit in the same era as Seger I can relate to his lyrics and songs. Making Thunderbirds is no doubt nostalgic to the thousands of former auto workers. My favorite song on this album is Coming Home which he does in his own incomparable gravelly blues style. As I recall, this was one his last albums to be released on 8-track at his insistance to make sure his fans with older equipment could enjoy it. Can you imagine any artist today who would do that?

  • great album

good price, plays well. This is an often overlooked album of his that obviously did not sell too well, hence it's rarity. Making Thunderbirds is a favorite. Reflects his working class Detroit background.

  • Bob Seger "The Distance" CD

Always a favorite, Bob Seger's writing and soulful almost haunting vocals really come through on this CD. I consider it his last best work before he took the 10 year break. I recently saw him in concert with his "FACE THE PROMISE" tour and he was even more powerful than when I first saw him 20 years ago. Timeless lyrics that still ring true today. He is an American treasue. The true voice of average hard working people for generations to come. Nothing fancy, just incredible lyrics and Rock and Roll the way it should be. • The Distance, underplayed, under-rated

On of Bob Seger's best attempts in my book. The opening chords of "The Distance" just stun you and continue onward all the way to "Little Victories". Why regular "Classic Rock " radio doesn't play nore of this album is a complete mystery to me. "Making Thunderbirds" is awesome! You can't go wrong with any of the songs on this release. Should be instilled as a "Classic"! Sonically very clean and crisp. Any audiophile would enjoy the clarity of this recording. Guys, you did good.........
