Director Tom Shadyac (ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE, BRUCE ALMIGHTY) reveals how his near-fatal cycling accident forever altered his perception of the Hollywood rat race, and inspired him to make some profound personal changes in a bid to create a better world. At first, doctors told Shadyac he might never walk again. Incredibly, just a few years later, the man behind some of Hollywood's biggest comedies was back on his feet. But his outlook on the world had been inexorably altered, and shortly thereafter, Shadyac relocated from his posh L.A. home to a modest mobile home community. In this film, we follow the filmmaker as he discusses his life-altering experience while attempting to gain a stronger grasp on the human condition by speaking with such noted thinkers as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Lynne McTaggart.

    I Am is the movie title. Very uplifting take on humans and how we are basically "wired" to be cooperative and caring.

    My first order on Ebay. I loved this movie and had a DVD which I lost somewhere. I am thrilled to purchase it as I've not found it anywhere else to buy. Fabulous movie. I'm happy to own a copy again. I watched it and the DVD is perfect; just like new.

    I AM is optimistic, educational and heartwarming.

    Tom Shadyac is the director that brought you Ace Ventura, Bruce Almighty, Liar Liar and others. He is also the son of the man who co-founded St. Jude's Children's Hospital with Danny Thomas. His two worlds collide in this documentary. Faced with a serious diagnosis, Tom sets out asking life's big questions and finds some heartwarming answers. I love every second of this movie.

    Important movie for our times

    Excellent movie. I highly recommend everyone watch & study this movie’s message, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. Make sure to get the correct ‘I Am’ movie by Tom Shadyac. There’s a different movie by the same name directed by John Wood, I believe.

    Consciousness-expanding review of human "nature"

    This is one of the best films I have ever seen. It combines a grounded, humorous approach with a serious investigation of human nature (interviews with top scientists and spiritual thinkers). Importantly, it portrays our over-consumption of material goods as a "mental illness" and offers other perspectives. Tom Shadyac, the creator/director, is like no other!
