Great audio, great video. If your an Eagles fan ya gotta get this disc!!

Great live concert with an excellent audio mix. I use it as a demo disk on my 11.4 15,000 watt projection system literally all the time. Highly recommended.

  • Top critical review

    great concert poor audio

I have all the eagles concert dvds. I have the regular 2 disc Melbourne tour dvd and the bluray one. The audio quality is the same. Hell freezes over dvd audio is better, and it was recorded in 1994. Don't waste your money on the bluray. the Melbourne concert is great, wish the audio was better. I have 3 high end stereo setups in my home all 3 had the same results Anthem mrx 700 receiver, lexicon mc4 preamp, Dynaudio speakers and several amps.

  • great concert for musician purists..not for pro tool and autotune artists..

i can only give a great review on this concert..the soundcheck is impeccable..the singing is on point & honestly..you'll think that they're lip-syncing off of their studio albums..(laughing)..i only have ONE beef with the concert..they hired a "wall of horns" to beef up their sound..(& i understand that)..BUT!!?? some of the songs didn't require the "marching band" boost..(e.g. Hotel California)..there was ONE part where Don Henley started losing his voice at the end of the song on "The Boys Of Summer"..but everything else was flawless..i recommend this concert to anyone who wants to know 1) what REAL music, real musicianship, real singing, and real lyrics are..& 2) how to give a good concert w/o the "bells & whistles"..in all..great concert..almost perfect concert..& though The Eagles ...

  • Sooooo Disappointed

I love The Eagles. I can listen to their original albums and their live performances from the late seventies over and over again on my headphones, my car, my home stereos. Their sound back then was raw, they went from concert to concert drinking, and smoking and burning themselves out...you could hear Don and Glenn's vocal cords just resonate from the abuse. Songs that dealt with loneliness and lost love sounded so genuine because they came from the souls of beat up young men. I had such high hopes for this video, blaring it on my 5.1 system hoping that the louder it got the better it would sound. That didn't work. Their voices were rested, their lives likely more sedate and the boringness just oozed out of every song. It almost sounded like they were trying so hard to be perfect ...

  • As the Eagles fly . . .

The original Eagles (Frey and Henley), accompanied by newer members Schmidt and Walsh and a wealth of talented side men, put on a long but excellent performance in Melbourne. Well recorded and edited, this shows the mature group not only playing and singing well but enjoying themselves in the process. In the past the Eagles have often been stoic and seemingly indifferent in their live performances (as when I saw them during their "Hell Freezes Over" tour) but they seem to have found a renewed energy and purpose. I give a lot of credit to the addition of Joe Walsh, a great musician and singer (of his own work anyway) and the resident "class clown" and provocateur. His expressions and antics often had the others smiling and laughing in turn; it's a pleasure to see talented musicians of ...
