  • If you love minimalist music, you must read this book

This book is packed with information about the pioneers of Minimalism - La Monte Young, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, and Philip Glass. There is extensive discussion of each composer's music from the 1960s to the 1970s, with some examples. The book's format suggests an academic work, but I found the writer's style to be clear and mostly free of overblown academese. Highly recommended. This is good choice for people with an intermediate-to-advanced level of musical (technical) knowledge.
