About this product

Product Information

Frank Herbert's classic masterpiece--a triumph of the imagination and one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time. SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, heir to a noble family tasked with ruling an inhospitable world where the only thing of value is the "spice" melange, a drug capable of extending life and enhancing consciousness. Coveted across the known universe, melange is a prize worth killing for.... When House Atreides is betrayed, the destruction of Paul's family will set the boy on a journey toward a destiny greater than he could ever have imagined. And as he evolves into the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib, he will bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream. A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

Engrossing page turner that turns into epics!

Classic deep Sci-fi story. Creates a large galaxy with plenty of content not only by the original author but also his son.

  • Top critical review

    Damaged book

The description said that the book was used but this book is used and damaged. Who knows if they shipped it this way or it happened in transit. If transit, they should have put it in a small box instead of putting a paper back in a poly bag.

  • Dune by Frank Herbert

Frank Herbert is my hero, the #1 reason being that he dropped out of college so that he might educate himself, as pertaining to his own interests; the 2nd reason of course being his fantastic prose. Dune has about everything any Sci Fi fan could want. I was most drawn to the capabilities of the logic driven Mentats; the political power struggles of the Houses—all who are under allegiance to House Corrino; the power held by the Fremen (we the people are Fremen, and we certainly need a Paul); a world in which Spice Melange is critical; and the relationships of a family in a new and chaotic world; that is the desert world Arrakis, which provides many ecological problems to be solved by Muad'Dib. The Kwisatz Haderach is simply wonderful to watch rise to the apex of power. In all ...

  • Epic of epics

This is hands down my favorite story of all time and I read A LOT! I just gave it to my grandson who's also a huge reader. Exciting, thoughtful, great characters, it just has everything & is extremely well written. Herbert was born for this.
