      A fun, easy musical journey to Middle Earth

      This is an excellant selection of simple arrangements from the cinema trilogy, including four songs from "The Fellowship of the Ring" and "The Two Towers", and three from "The Return of the King". The arrangements are simplified, but the essence and richness of the music is not lost. I would consider it appropriate for students anywhere at or above grade 1 1/2 or 2. More skilled pianists should find it simple, but not boring. Several of the songs have similar fingering patterns in the left hand, which makes sight-reading easier. The dynamics in a few of the pieces would present a challenge to younger students who lack strength in their fingers. Example: A treble clef forte fortissimo (fff) 4-note chord in "The Prophecy" (starting at the A above middle C and with a D minor chord above ...
