    Hendrix's best work

Whenever you hear people talk about how great of a guitarist Hendrix was, they must be talking about this compilation vs. his rock hits. Not because they aren't good, it's just that this work, which was not highly publicized, has a great deal of improvisation to it. This is the best type of venue for a talented guitarist who likes to "explore" and not keep to a script. In addition to the guitar work, there are impressive sax solos. Midnight Lightning even has a jazz feel to it. To me, more than any work he has done in the rock world, this complilation shows how diversified he was. Highly enjoyable, should be part of any blues music enthusiast's collection.

  • Buy it............Something for everybody..................Kratz

I'm not pretending to be a Hendrix expert but I know what I like. I like Hendrix and I like the blues so this collection seemed to be a natural. I heard a snippit of Blue Window somewhere and sought it out. I was previously unreleased but I found it in this collection. After enjoying this CD a few time, I have fallen in love with Jimmy's guitar work on Midnight Lightning. The extensive booklet that comes with the CD, says Midnight Lightning was previously released ,as part of South Saturn Delta. The recently released Valleys of Neptune CD features Crying Blue Rain which I also consider to be beautiful examples of the mans talent in performing as well as composing, and singing at the same time. Long live Hendrix.

  • Smiling

The cd arrived in time for my morning coffee. I put it in the cd player, and was smiling the whole way through. Songs were pleasantly different than any other compilation. I loved it!

  • jimi hendrix

I bought this item for my 15 year old grandson for Christmas to give him as sample of the good ol' days when I was about his age. He is very "into" Hendrix and he also is a very talented guitar player. He loves all this type of music and the era. He is a very big fan. I recieved excellent service and will buy again I'm sure. I am a very happy E-Bayer!!!!

  • Jimi serving up the blues at the height of his guitar prowess.

Jimi's rock playing was firmly based in the "blues". This set has many standard "blues" chestnuts. As a fan of this music I was not prepared for the polished playing on this CD. Jimi's prowess on the "blues" is at such a high level. It is a shock to discover that many of the tracks are just a group of musicians sitting in for a gig. With maybe one practice run and straight to recording. The set is a must have for anyone into Jimi's music. The recording quality on this CD is first rate.
